“Pilates can be described as 3 words, stretch with strength and control, and the control part is the most important, because that’s what makes you use your mind!” -Romana Kryzanowska, a protégé to Joseph Pilates

Carolina Core Pilates is located in the heart of Carrboro, North Carolina, inside the historic Carr Mill Mall & proudly serves the Chapel Hill community. Since 2008, we have specialized in apparatus-based training & precision instruction, offering individually tailored private sessions & small-group classes.

Our work is designed to support efficient, full-body conditioning: improving flexibility, enhancing mobility, developing deep muscular strength & tone, reducing chronic pain, & enhancing the mind-body connection. We draw from both classical & contemporary Pilates philosophies, applying the method with clarity, discipline, & adaptability to serve diverse bodies & conditions. With comprehensively certified instructors, we are committed to preserving the integrity of the work while meeting each client where they are in their evolving bodies.

At Carolina Core Pilates, we center instruction on the student’s experience. Progress is individual & process-oriented. Meaningful development unfolds through attentive, consistent practice over time. Our emphasis is on cultivating awareness, integrity, & strength from within.

We attune our teaching to each individual’s history, capacity, & evolving needs. Our studio environment supports objective observation, constructive feedback, & respectful guidance, creating space for focused learning & measurable growth.

We reject complacency in favor of responsible teaching. Ongoing study, refinement, & professional development are essential to our work. When practiced with humility, curiosity, & care, Pilates becomes more than exercise, it is an education in awareness & a discipline rooted in presence & respect: for the body, mind, & spirit; for the process; & for one another.

Our purpose is to support each individual in moving with greater intelligence, confidence, & ease while enhancing strength, balance, resilience, & overall quality of life.

Pilates is an integrated, comprehensive system of physical exercise that is comprised of both mental and physical conditioning. Pilates is often associated as "abdominal work," but is beneficial for people of all ages and fitness levels. The creator, Joseph Pilates, coined the work "contrology" with the origins in the mat work he later designed the apparatus to help the body understand the resistance needed to develop control of the entire body.
